Karma

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

So today... work was busy as hell. I stayed later to work on my school project due tommorrow. My boss, I guess, doesn't see my car and turns the alarm on. When I go to leave, the alarm goes off. So I had to deal with that. Kinda lame, right?

I get home and get a phone call, it's a solicitor. No big deal, hang up on em if they try to sell you something. The guy wants me to do a TV survey, to find out what kinda shows people watch in Florida. They're mailing me a packet, with 30 bucks in it, and a return envelope for my survey. All I have to do is watch TV for a week, and tell them what I watch.

Easiest 30 bucks I will have ever made. I coulda hung up on this guy.

This is evidence of karma. Something terrible happened this evening, I get home, and I get 30 bucks for doing what I was going to do anyways. Haha.

TV sucks today

You can totally tell the difference between just 10 years ago of what was on TV and what is on today. I've been watching the 90's animated X-Men, and it's pretty great. The episode that made me really see this, was the one about Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler is a very religious mutant, and he's telling Wolverine about God and how he should repent and stuff.

In today's television world, that would not happen. At all. Somebody would complain about it, or take great offense to it. Which is crap. This episode was awesome, and it had a good message in it. Another episode of the show had a thing about racisim. I'm sorry, but shows nowadays play it way too safe and just do the same boring stuff.

What the hell happened to TV? It's all reality shows, and bad American cartoons, and the majority of animated things on TV is anime. What happened to our country to the point where we don't animate anything good? In the 90's we had TONS of cartoon shows. TONS. Kids nowadays grow up loving "cartoons" but really anime. It's pretty gross.

Final Fantasy X

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Crayon Triangle
Okay, I've waited a long time to post this...

Final Fantasy X is by far the worst Final Fantasy game I've ever played. Sure it does a couple good things, but it's awful in pretty much every way aside from the Sphere Grid. I was told the story was good in this game. Okay, first of all... No it isn't. Girl is on a quest to kill ancient monster, needs to find monster friends to help her kill herself. Turns out fantasy boy comes to help kill his dad and help her release "God isn't real". I know it sounds original, but really, it's executed terribly. Sure there's about 1/3 of the game in movies or more. Characters are stiff as hell, the game's incredibly linear.

I wanted to wait until I got off the high on playing FFIX, which is a very solid, very enjoyable game, even if it does get rushed in the end. It's like Square wanted to make a movie for the PS2 and make it a game as well. Who cares about the story, we're using voice acting and facial gestures. Whoooo.

I think this is the case with a few Final Fantasy games. But this one upsets me the most with the battle system. Bosses get multiple turns. I could care less if they did or didn't, but when I'm using my moves and I'm trying to pick out what to do before the bosses turn, it says the boss only has one move. Sometimes he has one, sometimes he has three. My characters are really strong and have loads of health, so they shoulda been fine. But Jecht Form 2 used his sword sweep twice on me, and it does 2500+, so naturally, my party was wiped out. I don't feel like running around collecting stupid orbs in this linear bullshit game to fight him again right now. Apparently gamefaqs suggest using super cheap moves to beat him. Using everyone's Overdrive (that means spending an hour getting them all ready), then having all of the aeons on overdrive (another hour), then have Rikku just throw massive amounts of money at the boss.

Yeah, this is a great boss. No skill involved, just use a buncha cheap moves.

I read online the reason they made a sequel to FFX, was because it costed them next to nothing to put out a game since the engine and stuff was done, and because X did so well (X probably did so well because it was "innovative" and all that bullshit).

I have not been this miserable playing a video game in a long time. If I didn't pay like 20 bucks for this game I wouldn't be forcing myself to finish it.

Week 8 is finally here! Just in time to make it for the Epic Marathon contest too I think. Haha.

This is the most crucial week of all them to vote. You have until June 1st to cast your votes. This is to find out who is the OHR HOUSE HERO!

Quantum of Solace

Just got done watching Quantum of Solace for the first time since it was out in theaters. It's such a great movie. Granted, Casino Royale is the better of the Daniel Craig movies, but this movie is still awesome. I would say, after having just rewatched all the Brosnan movies, both of the Craig movies are better than all of the Pierce Brosnan ones put together. I hope this guy is signed up for a lot of movies, cause he's awesome.

Mark 8's show!

Mark8's January 10th

We played our last show for a very long time tonight. It went really well, we played 3rd, which was refreshing as opposed to being last, last time. We played pretty good I thought. I was able to sing Cereal Killer well, which was what I really wanted to do. We're gonna do a house party type thing in a few months and let all of our half dozen fans know the Mark 8's are pretty much done. Figure a pizza party with all of our good friends would be the best way to go out. The same way we came in. Heh. I am enjoying the rock n' roll weekends though and will miss em'.

There was a fantastic band that played with us, they're from Boston, called the Have Nots. Anyone bored enough should check em out:

It was definitely... without a doubt, the best movie experience I've had in years. The story is great. From the very beginning, it has you hooked. And it has a few effects and a bunch of awesome fight scenes. But it's just a great story, where they go all around the world, slowly uncovering the mystery of the skull.

I went into it, not really knowing what to expect, and really hoping they wouldn't trash my childhood hero with a lame sequel. And they completely did it justice. Every character was enjoyable, and the ending was great. I could tell this was definitely a movie that had the fans in mind with just about everything. It was epic, it was enjoyable, and I can't wait to see it again!

That Rya dude, whoever the fuck he is. The guy that thinks he knows everything.

Anyways, he made that thread that lasted like 15 pages long and was arguing how he knew all about making a game. Well, he released a game, which is exactly what I was waiting for. This is a guy who's so self righteous that it completely bothers me. He's not waltzing in and saying how perfect he is. Well, with his game, I found several things that made me not enjoy it, not just because he's a pompous dick. So, I'm having a lot of fun insulting the guy. I plan on making a Fuck You Rya comic for the next issue of HamsterSpeak.

New Project idea

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Crayon Triangle
So the other day, I designed a new game. When I'll get to it, I dunno, but the concept sounds amazing, even after it not being fresh in my mind.

It's about a Treasure Hunter/Pirate named Chip. He's basically this cocky guy who searches for treasure and has amazing adventures looking for it. But it's not ordinary treasure, he goes off to find rare stuff that was depicted as a myth or legend. Some stuff I mapped out that might be fun for a pirate to do, is the Hand of Midas (turns anything it touches to solid gold), the treasure of a dangerous dragon (rip off of the Hobbit, intentionally), and discovering the lost treasure of Atlantis.

It'd be set up kinda like Wind Waker, in the respect that you would have to sail everywhere you went. So in actuality, the game would take place on maybe 3-4 islands, and you'd go around getting clues at bars and from local townspeople to find out little tricks to finding the treasures.

The battle system I have sounds pretty good too. He has a sword that grows as he grows in battle. Essentially, a living sword.

I think it's a sweet concept, and it'll hopefully be something I do this year.

January 3rd, 2008

So... I went out and bought the first volume of Batman the Animated Series, the one from the 90's. And I must say, it's even more amazing than it was back when I was a kid. I remembered it being a dark show, but I never imagined it was quite like this. I mean... it's cartoony, but at the same time, the stories are so intense it's like an adult show too. Definitely a great buy. I'll prolly end up getting the other 4 volumes as I go.

But one neat thing I found out was, the guy that drew Tiny Toons Adventures did Batman. And they did a lot of cool art techniques to get the feel of the show that they wanted. Hell, most all the backdrops were done on black paper to get Gotham looking extra dark and awesome. Little things like that just are amazing to me.

I'm almost done with disc 2, and I gotta say, the two parter about Two Face was awesome, haha.

This is definitely one game I am picking up in 2008. The freakin Ghostbusters game on the Wii! The way they describe it makes it seem like it'll be a ton of fun!

More Wii

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Luckily, there aren't too many downloadable games that interest me, or else I'd end up buying more. Haha. I'm having fun playing Super Metroid. And I'll give TMNT a lil while before I delete it. I bought Star Fox 64 today, just because I remember it being fun for multiplayer.

It's looking like I'm not gonna have Super Mario Galaxy until near X-Mas time. My mom is trying to get me stuff for xmas, and I told her I wanted it and that it was 50 bucks. She said "that should be do-able". This coming from one of my parents who are "done" buying my gifts.

I'm excited now. I might be getting older, but getting video games for x-mas is always awesome.

Holy hell! I... I'm in love with my Wii all over again. I downloaded Super Metroid and NES Ninja Turtles. Can anyone recommend any games?

Also, the wireless old school controller is totally bad ass.

All this stuff is my X-Mas gift to myself, hahaha. So... Merry X-Mas RMZ.

Plans for the weekend

I work tonight til like 10, and then tommorow I work 5-9. So for the bulk of my weekend at home, I plan on working pretty hard on Mr.Triangle's Adventure.

I've done a lot of graphics already. Most of the bad guys for the first area are done, along with a Triangle slime. I drew Slither's first form, and just have to finish it up when I get home tonight.

Oh, and to Fenrir, don't think you're the only one using Dracula's castle for your game. Ha.

Dunno how it happened, but, somehow over my Labor Day weekend, I updated HQ3 to the new OHR, fixed a few bugs (there are still plenty to go). I did a speed run of it just to watch everything, and I'm excited to playtest it again. I should be hitting the ground running with it in the next week or so when playtesting is done.

OHR-House!!!

Yeah, I tried to be the artist for season 2, but after my perserverance, I tried out and made it for the tilist for season 3. And I'm trying to keep myself as un-involved as I possibly can be so that I can enjoy the show by doing graphics and watching it. I'm working real hard to make the house as detailed with it's theme as I possibly can. I can't really post screens up, cause well, that would spoil something that I don't have any right to spoil.

So look forward to my best work!

Week in Review

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Crayon Triangle
Something really cool happened today. And I'm pretty excited about it. I spent all day working on it, and I'm real proud of what I churned out.

This week went by pretty fast. Work didn't suck too bad or anything. I had to spend a lot of money at the vet on Saturday though, cause my cat has feline acne, which is what the weird area under his chin was. So I had to get him some medicine from the vet, making my total 3 times more than I thought. Sheesh. Way to rip me off eh?

July 2nd, 2007

So... in other news, I released OHR World to... the world? Ha. Gotten a few downloads, but no response from anyone that I haven't sent it to. On a positive note, the people who have seen it have thought lots of great things and made really awesome comments on some of the characters. Fen told me Hilda was a snob, and I laughed pretty hard. She is the definition of what a stuck up spoiled brat is supposed to be.

Mr.Triangle and Josh seem to be the favorites so far though. With most of Week 2 written, I have a lot of the lesser character fleshed out a lil more, and the popular ones fleshed out even furthur. Overall, I'm more excited for Week 2 than Week 1. Since no one has really expressed thoughts on the forum so far, if ya have an observation that you like/dislike about the show, by all means let me know. I'm definitely trying to make it the best it can be.

If ya haven't already gotten OHR World, you should!
